BakerLou Terms and Conditions
To place an order, customers are required to pay a 50% non-refundable deposit by bank transfer. Once the deposit is paid, the date is booked in my diary.
In the event that the customer cancels the order, BakerLou reserves the right to retain the non-refundable deposit.
Full payment is due if the customer cancels the order within 7 days of collection or delivery date.
In the very unlikely event that BakerLou cancels the order due to exceptional circumstances beyond my control, I will refund any money already paid. BakerLou cannot be held liable for more than the value of monies already taken.
The remaining balance is due on collection or delivery in cash or by bank transfer, with the exception of wedding cakes that are being delivered by BakerLou, the remaining balance of which is due no later than 7 days before the event by bank transfer.
Although BakerLou will endeavour to accommodate late design changes, I cannot guarantee to fulfil any requests to change the agreed design prior to two weeks before the date of collection/ delivery.
Please note that no two cakes are the same and BakerLou reserves the right to use creative licence during production.
Portion guides are approximate. Portion numbers will vary depending on how the customer or venue staff choose to cut the cake.
If fresh flowers are to be provided by the customer’s florist for use on the cake, it is the responsibility of the florist to determine flower safety and safe food practises and not that of BakerLou.
If fresh flowers, edible flowers and/or fresh fruit are to be used on the cake, BakerLou will set these up as late as feasibly possible on the day but cannot guarantee that such items will last in optimum condition for the whole event depending on length of event and weather conditions on the day.
BakerLou cannot be held responsible for any melting of any cake components due to warm weather.
Freshness of cupcakes is only guaranteed on day of collection/ delivery.
Sponge cakes will usually last around a week but BakerLou only guarantees freshness for 48 hours after collection/ delivery.
Cake ingredients and tools may come into contact with nuts, egg, dairy and wheat products. Please be aware that if you have ordered a free-from cake, whilst your chosen cake may not be made with nuts or a nut product, egg, dairy, wheat or gluten, it will be prepared in a kitchen where nut products, eggs, diary, wheat and gluten are heavily used. Whilst every effort is made to separate raw materials BakerLou must state that raw materials used in your cake may not be free from nuts, eggs, dairy, wheat or gluten.
Sometimes non-edible items are used in cakes, eg, plastic dowels and cake toppers. It is the responsibility of the customer to remove these before consumption.
The customer is responsible for providing clear directions to the delivery venue and notifying BakerLou of any road hazards or obstacles that may damage the finished cake.
BakerLou will always aim to deliver the cake in good time, however, in the unlikely event that the cake is delivered late due to circumstances beyond my control, (eg, exceptional adverse weather conditions or major traffic delays) BakerLou is only liable to refund the delivery charge.
For deliveries, the customer is responsible for providing a level and stable cake location (table and stand) that will hold the weight of the cake. For marquee locations, please ensure the floor is stable.
Once a cake has been delivered or collected it is the responsibility of the customer. BakerLou cannot be held responsible for anything that happens to the cake once it has been collected or delivered.
If a customer is collecting a cake, BakerLou takes no responsibility for the cake once the cake has left my property but I am happy to provide the following advice: If driving, the customer is advised to place the cake on a flat surface in the car where nothing can fall onto it (eg, in the boot or a footwell) and not on a seat where it could fall off. BakerLou advises that the customer drives carefully and slowly with no sudden braking.
BakerLou reserves the right to photograph all creations and publish images on my website and social media channels.
